Beautiful article in the annual high-tech issue of Le Monde 2 this weekend on « The connected life », and I’m not only saying that because the article mentions Pamela and me.
I certainly am not a luddite who sees the Internet as a worrisome or scary hotbed of pedophiles and terrorists and anarchists exchanging recipes on how best to blow up SUVs.
But I frequently succumb to a cynical view of the Internet, as essentially the product of greed (spam & malware), narcissism (facebook etc.) and teenage horniness (porn).
Well Claire Ulrich, the author, managed to magically obliterate this darker outlook, and had me totally transported by the stories of her online life and her contagious sense of wonderment. The article is funny, touching, sharp, never naïve and beautifully written.
It literally sent shivers of pleasure and emotion up and down my spine.
I wish I could end this post on that last sentence, but I have to mention the sad fact that Le Monde 2 (the weekend magazine supplement of the daily) has absolutely no online presence. So if you manage to pick up a copy (and if you read French), you’ll be among the lucky ones.
