Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac: Even Worse Than I Thought?

As I surmised I might on my recent post about Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, I gave up on it on my iMac G5 and trashed it.

Unusably slow.

But surely, on an Intel Mac, it has to be better/faster than Office 2004 running in PowerPC emulation mode, right?

Wrong, at least according to XLR8yourmac. They benchmarked Excel 2008 vs. Excel 2004 on an Intel Mac and found that Excel 2008 was in fact 4 times slower!

Thanks Microsoft. That’s quite an engineering feat.
